Where I Came From

Raised By Smoke and Empty Bottles

They expected us to become it. We didn't.

Five kids in a house nobody would call a home, in a mill town that was dying slow. Paper routes before sunrise, frozen hands, parents chasing bottles and bars while the oldest learned to cook and keep the little ones fed. Everybody figured those kids would turn out the same as what raised them. They didn't. This is the story of that house, and of the people who walked out of it standing.
